Tomorrow

Waiting for a sign,
I sit in almost stillness.
Could I but know what tomorrow holds,
I could be guided in my acts today.
But on the other hand, if today’s acts
Are the building blocks of tomorrow,
Then I must determine what it is to be
And proceed today, to mould my tomorrows.
What do I want?
A shared peace and tranquility.

An orderly life with spaces in it,
Rhythm and a forward motion ,
Love, caring and warmth,
Communication and companionship,
A reasonable physical security,
Laughter and contentment,
And the knowledge of how to obtain it all.

If I live in the present moment, then I don't worry about tomorrow. When I'm in the now and here, there isn't any worry or concern - just a celebration and gratitude.

And really, there is no tomorrow. Reality is only an infinite locus of nows and heres :)

I can appreciate and empathize with some of the sentiments expressed here, but I like "Sunbeam" better :)

Thanks, nonbeing, for your observations. You are right about
living in the present. There is only now and here and love. This poem was written a number of years ago when I was first discovering my path. I post many of these early works because so many people are where I was then. ...Z

I don't want to know what tomorrow holds, because it could be too frightful, unless I could know and would be able to do something to change it if it was something bad.

Then again, would being able to know pertain just to what tomorrow would hold for me, or how many others would this knowledge include? That would make it even scarier. I have enough worries as is.

Other than that--amen!

Darlene, I agree that there is really no point in knowing what is to come since the future is fluid and we can not live there, just as the past is concrete and we can not live there either. There is only here and now and always love.
